hdr gripes

Fri Feb 15, 2008, 7:11 PM
Since when did hdr become a category defined by rules set in stone? Who said that HDR pictures had to be realistic and include the entire dynamic range?
Everytime i post one of my pictures onto the internet i have to always hear how its over done.
HDR IS A TECHNIQUE. So what if my pictures don't use the entire dynamic scale. So what if my pictures dont look realistic. Who ever said they needed to.
Do people who paint get crap for painting in colors that dont represent realism? Or get crap for using something that isnt a brush? Then why do i get crap for using a technique to my liking?
To everyone who rags on "unrealist hdr" bleh to you. Your the same kind of people crapping on Van Gogh and Picasso.
Art is free. Its one persons expression. Why bring rules into it?

Hey man, saw your thread on vortex with your coils for sale, and noticed that the pics of your car were definately more than the usual snapshots you see on there lol. I am totally with you on the HDR thing, I am pretty into myself and have never understood why people and "photographers" are making such a big deal out of it. Keep it up man, your images look good!!
